ANDREA WINTERS MORELOS, ESQ.
I am the owner of Morelos Law Firm and have been practicing in North Carolina for over 14 years.
After
obtaining my Juris Doctor from UNC Law School, I began my legal career in general litigation and real estate.
In 2004, I joined The Connor Law Firm, PLLC where I started focusing on
family law and employment discrimination. That firm then merged into Hedrick Murray
Bryson Kennett Mauch & Connor, PLLC in 2008 where I continued
practicing family law and employment, as well as general litigation and
contract matters for over 3 years.
Later with Merritt Webb, I assisted Legal Shield members with a myriad of legal
issues through phone consultations, reviewing legal documents, agreements
and contracts, writing letters for purposes of settlement and
collection, and handling all uncontested divorces for the firm.
I have always had a strong interest in helping people and representing
individuals’ rights. While in law school, I interned at Glenn Mills
Fisher & Mahoney, PA, assisting with civil rights and employment
discrimination cases. I also interned during law school at North
Carolina Prisoner Legal Services, assisting inmates across the state
with tort claims and post-conviction claims. Based on the latter, I was selected as the coordinator for the Prisoners
Rights Project at UNC Law for two years and also received a certificate
from the North Carolina State Bar Association for completing 100 hours
of Pro Bono Service upon graduation.
Since 2004, I have volunteered for
the UNC Law School's Community Legal Project (CLP), which offers free legal
assistance through the Compass Center for Women and Families in Chapel Hill (formerly The Women’s Center). I also have participated in the Lawyers Referral Service since 2003, is a program sponsored by the NC Bar Association which connects you with a local attorney in the relevant practice area along with a significantly discounted consult fee. And finally, I happily donate my time once a year at the NC Bar Association's "4ALL Statewide Service Day" - where attorneys throughout North Carolina answer phone calls all day and provide free legal information and referral resources for numerous areas of law.
I focus mainly on family law, but my varied background experience enables me to handle multiple legal matters and questions that likely brought you to this site today!
Separation and divorce often involve other issues such as
employment, contracts, real estate,
collections, foreclosures, and general litigation.
It is
critical for an attorney to understand the overlap there
in order
to best advise and represent those going through
difficult, stressful,
confusing, and emotional domestic matters.
In short, full service law
firms are a great benefit to clients
who often need assistance with
multiple legal matters.
